 1. Where could I find information and
guidelines on how to do business with UNHCR?
You can find this
information on our business guide "Doing Business with the
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees". It provides
general information on various business matters, including
UNHCR procurement needs, statistics, procedures and general
terms and conditions for the procurement of goods and
services.
2. How can I
apply for registration as a supplier to the United Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees?
Your company can
apply for registration as UNHCR supplier by completing
and submitting the UNHCR Registration Form to our office in Geneva, together with a copy of your
company's latest financial statement.
You can also
register with the United Nations Global Marketplace (UNGM),
which is a database of potential suppliers available to all UN
and World Bank procurement personnel. To register with UNGM,
please follow the instructions provided at http://www.ungm.org/.
UNHCR procurement
staff regularly search the UNGM for potential suppliers.
Registration with UNGM improves your opportunities for
consideration.
3. What are
UNHCR's payment terms?
Payment will be
made by bank transfer within 30 days of receipt of the invoice
and all necessary documentation as stipulated in the purchase
order in Geneva. UNHCR may consider shorter
payment periods against early payment discounts.
UNHCR does not
entertain requests for Letters of Credit, advance payment or
assignment of payments to third parties.
4. Are
purchases by UNHCR tax-free?
Goods and
services purchased by UNHCR are normally exempt from all taxes
and customs duties. In rare cases, however, recipient
governments may levy taxes and customs duties. In those
instances, UNHCR would expect the supplier to reflect such
costs in its offer, as stipulated in the tendering
documents.
5. Where could
I find information on current UNHCR tender documents and any
other kind of business opportunities?
You will find
information on current UNHCR's tender documents and
procurement opportunities in UNHCR's Web Site www.unhcr.ch and www.unhcr.org.cn, which are
regularly updated.
6. What are
the conditions that UNHCR apply for the procurement of goods and services?
For the General
Conditions for the Purchase of Goods, link to Goods. For
the General Conditions for the Provision of Services, link to
