The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), an integral part of the UNITED NATIONS system provides protection and assistance to the world's refugees and those in refugee-like situations.

The Supply Management Service (SMS), located in Geneva, Switzerland, is responsible for the bulk of UNHCR's international procurement. In 2004 alone, SMS procured 100 million dollars word of goods and services.
